It can be a daunting time for a woman when she starts the menopause. You may feel scared and uncertain of what lies ahead; feeling alone and perhaps even anxious and vulnerable. Hot flushes, anxiety, tiredness, memory fogs, loss of libido and aches and pains that all of a sudden just appear. YOU ARE NOT ALONE ! Until recently women have suffered in silence and ‘just got on with it” to the detriment of their relationships, careers and most importantly their relationship with themselves. There is no need to suffer in silence anymore. With greater awareness and understanding and making some simple life changes; the 'menopause' can be a time of change and empowerment; a time for letting go of the past and that which no longer serves you and moving forwards towards an exciting and fulfilling time in life . In this workshop we are going introduce different techniques to help you to manage symptoms that may arise and to help to empower you with knowledge and skill. Each workshop will incorporate some yoga, breath work, meditation and some frank and open conversations around the menopause. The workshop will be run by Annette Bates, who is a qualified and experienced yoga teacher and has received additional specific menopause yoga training with Petra Coveney of Menopause Yoga. The workshops will be influenced by Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western approaches . We will look at how a woman's life is broken down into various seasons; practice yoga postures specifically around the topic of conversation, which will include some restorative yoga , breathwork and meditation. We will also look at the importance of journal writing and, of course we will have a good old talk about our own experiences and listen to others experiences so that we can 'normalise; and perhaps find new ways to manage our symptoms. Each 3 hour workshop will focus on a specific area of the menopause and its relating symptoms and experiences The workshops will be small and intimate with no more than 10 attendees to each workshop . We will open with a women's circle of trust where we will share where we are on our menopause journey. If you are peri-menopausal, going through the menopause at present or have come out of the other side, all are welcome. Perhaps you haven't hit the peri menopause yet, but want to forearm yourself with the knowledge and skills to deal with it when it does come around. All are welcome!
